Baffled Gross Pollutant Collection Trap – Protection from Hydrocarbons and Gross Pollutants

Baffled Gross Pollutant Trap - BPT600A baffled gross pollutant trap operates in a similar way to a standard silt trap, trapping sediment above .3mm in diameter in the contained silt basket with a 99% removal capacity. These units are ideal for large open areas.

A baffled gross pollutant trap provides all the same benefits of the standard silt trap along with providing additional protection against hydrocarbons (95% removal capacity) when the risk of their presence is high but the potential volumes are considered small, such is the case for small scale wash down applications and car parks.

How Do they Work?

As water enters the unit, solids up to .3mm are trapped in the sediment basket. Once trapped the, sediment drops to the bottom of the basket allowing for manual removal.

The remaining water then enters the larger chamber of the unit and exits beneath the baffle. A baffle is a surface, placed inside a contained area that restricts or directs the flow of water. As hydrocarbons are of a lower density than water they float on the surface and are unable to exit the system due to the exit being positioned below the baffle.

What Happens during Rain Events?
If rainfall exceeds the the treatable flow rate of the unit, the high-flow bypass directs any excess to exit the system through the baffle.
